Erica Askin joins Costello, Mains & Silverman, LLC in her thirteenth year of representing workers in labor and employment. Whether it's in a courtroom, at the negotiating table, or on "the shop floor," Erica's life purpose is to achieve victory side-by-side with working people brave enough to stand up for themselves, their families, and for justice. Before joining Costello & Mains, Erica represented workers as In-House Counsel for SEIU Local 49 and, before that, as the first woman business manager elected by the proud public employee members of Laborers' Local 483 in Oregon. Erica also contributed to the communities from where she lived by serving organizations devoted to human rights, racial, and economic justice.
Erica earned her Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University-Newark in 2008, and her Bachelor of Social Work from Florida State University in 2004. Erica is admitted to the New Jersey and New York state bars, and to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Before becoming a lawyer, Erica worked as a community organizer and anti-poverty policy advocate in her home state of Florida.
In addition to greatly valuing her spare time with family and friends, Erica enjoys creative writing, city and nature sightseeing, and joining workers on the nearest picket line.
