Review this wrongful termination checklist

On Behalf of | Mar 26, 2019 | Wrongful Termination |

If you believe that you have been wrongfully terminated from your place of employment in Burlington or anywhere else in New Jersey, you need to review this checklist for wrongful termination. Reviewing the checklist will make it easier to determine if wrongful termination actually took place, so you can move forward with speaking to your attorney.

Here’s a checklist to determine if harassment was present:

  • Insulting or offensive comments were made about your sex, age, race or religion
  • Unwelcome sexual advances were made by your employer
  • Comments mentioned above were made regularly in front of other employees
  • If you were involved in a relationship with your employer, did your employment end when the relationship ended?

Here’s a checklist to determine if discrimination was present:

  • Do employees similar in age and gender to you get treated differently?
  • Is there direct evidence available you were fired for discriminatory reasons?
  • Were comments made by a manager or supervisor that shows bias towards one group or another?

Here’s a checklist to determine if retaliation was present:

  • Did you report violations by the company to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or another regulatory agency before being fired?
  • Were you discouraged from taking part in any investigation into your company’s operations?
  • Were you punished or warned against taking medical or family leave?

After you’ve reviewed the checklist in this post, you can bring your concerns to an experienced wrongful termination attorney. Don’t sit idly by and let your former employer break the law at your expense in New Jersey. Fight for your rights and the chance to get your job back.
