The purpose of this Symposium was to engage in a Socratic dialogue, using examples and vignettes, to discuss the impact of recent revisions to Title IX of the Federal statutes, along with extant Civil Rights Laws under Title VII of the Federal Civil Rights Act and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination.
“In addition to representing individuals who are victims of sexual harassment in the workplace,” Kevin says, “we also represent individuals who are the victims of hostile education environment in the school setting. Not only are there specific Civil Rights statutes speaking to the workplace that also covers schools, but there are specific statutes that cover only schools, such as Title IX of the Federal statutes. The purpose of this dialogue was to allow students, through the Socratic method, to understand the inner and outer contours of those laws. It was a great pleasure to participate in this, along with other distinguished professionals, and am honored that we were asked.”
