Contractors, laborers, professionals and other workers employed by private companies doing contract work for public entities are entitled to be paid the prevailing wage for their services in the community. That wage is set by the Dept. of Labor. Often, however, dishonest employers will try to cheat their workers and the state by paying less than the prevailing rate, or by falsifying benefit and/or income information to make it appear as if they're in compliance. Sometimes, workers don't even realize they're being cheated; sometimes, however, they're threatened with loss of their job if they complain, or if they tell the state what's happening. Don't stand for it. The firm files these cases both as individual claims and as class actions. We'll go after the cheaters, and we'll get you the wages to which you're entitled under the Prevailing Wage Law (a subchapter of the Wage and Hour Law). |
